Resident Program in Swine Production Medicine
The Food Animal/Production Medicine Sections, Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, Michigan State University, invites applications for a residency position that will begin July 1, 1997. Minimum qualifications include graduation from an accredited school of veterinary medicine and the equivalent of 1 year practice experience. Selection of the resident is based upon academic performance, experience, career goals, and letters of recommendation. The residency provides opportunity for in-depth training in the diagnosis, treatment, and control/prevention of diseases of swine, on herd-based levels. The residency program could be structured to fulfill eligibility requirements for board-certification in veterinary internal medicine, theriogenology, veterinary nutrition, or veterinary preventive medicine. The 3-year program includes postgraduate research training which confers an MS degree upon completion. Residents assist with supervision and instruction of veterinary students in clinical, laboratory, and didactic sessions, and are included in the emergency services provided by the Food Animal/Production Medicine Section.
