Swine Pathologist

The Texas A&M University System invites applications for a position in swine pathology in Amarillo, Texas. Applicants must hold a DVM degree and preferably also an advanced degree: ACVP board certification or eligibility is required. Preference will be given of candidates with experience in swine practice and/or swine pathology. The position consists of conducting laboratory and fieldwork as well as some teaching/research. Chair, Department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine

The Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine. The Department, created in 1997 through the merger of the veterinary diagnostic laboratory, food animal clinical sciences, production animal medicine, and veterinary extension, is recruiting an administrator to lead the Department in developing and sustaining professional practice, teaching, research,
and extension programs of excellence. The Department provides state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory services, educates professional and graduate students in veterinary diagnostic and production animal medicine, and sustains exemplary research in areas within these disciplines.

The Chair provides program guidance, leadership, vision, and planning in accordance with the Strategic Plan of the Department, College, and the University for a department with 26 faculty positions, 63 professional staff, and 14 graduate students. Three faculty positions are vacant. Collaborative opportunities exist with academic and research units at the University, the USDA's National Animal Disease Center and National Veterinary Services Laboratories, and the University of Iowa. This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to provide a leadership role in building a preeminent veterinary diagnostic and production animal medicine department.

Candidates are expected to have DVM and MS/PhD degrees or equivalent experience. Candidates must have an established record of scholarly activity and qualify for tenured rank of professor. Candidates must have management and leadership experience along with demonstrated interpersonal, communicative, and budgetary skills. Candidates must understand and appreciate the multifaceted roles of this Department in a land-grant University. Additionally, candidates must possess the ability to network with other departments, institutions, industries, professional organizations, practicing veterinarians, and governmental agencies. Board certification in a specialty area of the department is highly desirable.
