The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), North Carolina State University, is offering an opportunity for professional development: a nonthesis Master of Specialized Veterinary Medicine (MSpVM) in Swine Health and Production Medicine. The program will increase the skills and capabilities of individuals and improve their opportunities within the pork industry. Exposure to swine medicine and production will be accomplished through direct interaction with faculty and swine veterinarians/producers, independent clinical experiences, teaching, and applied research. Successful completion of graduate level courses is a requirement of the program. Considerable flexibility in course selection will give the MSpVM student the opportunity to personalize the program.

Veterinarian
Department of Veterinary Science and Microbiology, The University of Arizona is seeking an individual for an academic career-track position. The successful candidate will provide outreach to veterinarians, animal owners, and food-quality-conscious consumers. Candidates must be dedicated to acquiring technical information and transmitting the information in a useful form to Arizona citizens and individuals in the southwestern U.S. A team approach will be expected of the incumbent, with input from veterinarians and scientists with expertise in microbiology, pathology, toxicology, parasitology, and clinical medicine. The Arizona Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory will be the incumbent's primary base of operation and interaction and he/she will work closely with the AVDL faculty and staff. The DVM degree (or equivalent) is required and the Ph.D. degree is desirable. The successful candidate will have excellent written and interpersonal communication skills plus an interest in applied research. The position is available July 1, 2000.
